Textbooks of Pathology: A Comparative Review
I am writing this comparative review as part of a series where I have reviewed many textbooks of different subjects. Following are the books which are available in the market, so I will be mentioning their salient features and will mention which are recommended by me. I have also listed MCQ’s books at the end of this article but those books are for entrance exams preparation. But some students read those books in UG days itself for PG medical entrance exam preparation and to solve the MCQ’s in UG exams. But personally I do not recommend reading those books in UG days and I think students should focus on reading standard textbooks only.
Textbook of Pathology with Pathology Quick Review and MCQ’s Hardcover by Harsh Mohan (Recommended)
Best book to read for UG exams and even for reference in entrance exams. I have seen many people recommending Robbins to be read during UG days, but I do not agree. I think reading Harsh Mohan during UG days is more than enough. It gives every topic in details, diagrams are easy to understand and well drawn. Also, it has photos of actual pathological slides as well. If you are a UG MBBS student, do not look anywhere else and buy this book.
There are multiple versions of Robbins pathology available in the market and are called mother Robbins, father Robbins, Brother Robbins etc by many people. These books are only to be read for reference purpose if felt necessary and not as a primary reading book. I am mentioning details of Robbins available in the market below to make a list of all the available versions in the market at the time of writing this review.
Robbins Basic Pathology:with Student Consult Online Access by Kumar, Abbas, Aster
Robbins and Cotran Pathologic Basis of Disease: South Asia Edition(vol 1 and 2) by Kumar

Exam preparation books:
Following are exam preparation books which are short versions of actual textbooks. These can be read by students if they are short of time with exam deadline on their head.

Clinical Pathology: A Practical Manual Paperback by Sanyal
